Porter River Bedroom

In the middle of a practical attic insulation upgrade at our own home, it dawned on us that we could be having a bit more fun. The home was built in the first decade of the 1900’s and, all considering, it’s pretty awesome. The drop ceiling in our bedroom, however, was not. Using the attic project as an excuse, we vaulted the ceiling and installed reclaimed collar ties from a house of a similar vintage. We were so excited by the transformation that we let our enthusiasm carry us away into designing and fabricating integrated bedside storage, even sneaking a pocket door behind the cabinetry – because, why not?! These new layers on the old bones of this house bring a lot of joy to our daily rituals and routines.
